As the Centerville Elks baseball team prepares for the 2025 season, they aim to build upon the successes and lessons of the previous year. Under the guidance of Head Coach Jason Whited, who boasts a commendable record of 161-90 at Centerville, the Elks are poised for a competitive campaign.

2024 Season Recap:

The Elks concluded the 2024 season with a series of notable performances:
• May 1, 2024: Dominant 11-0 victory over Wayne High
• May 17, 2024: Narrow 4-3 win against Monroe High School in postseason play.
• May 21, 2024: Another 4-3 triumph over Springboro High School, advancing further in the tournament.
• May 23, 2024: Season concluded with a 2-13 loss to Elder High School in the tournament.

Key Returning Players

The Elks return a mix of veteran leadership and rising talent, giving them depth and versatility on both sides of the ball.
• Casey Lippincott (Senior, RHP)
A dependable arm in the rotation, Lippincott went 3-0 in 8 appearances with an impressive 2.12 ERA, 30 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 1.08 over 29.2 innings. He will be a cornerstone of the pitching staff this spring.
• Josh Miller (Senior, RHP)
A dominant force out of the bullpen and spot starts, Miller was lights-out in 2024, posting a 0.82 ERA and a 0.59 WHIP in 17 innings pitched. His command and poise will be key in close games.
• Jackson Clark (Senior, 1B)
Clark was a defensive anchor at first base, leading the team with 141 putouts and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. His glove and presence in the lineup provide both stability and leadership.
• Colten Burleson (Junior, INF)
Another defensive standout, Burleson also posted a 1.000 fielding percentage, with 41 putouts and 6 assists. As he continues to develop at the plate, he’s expected to take on a larger two-way role this season.
• Gavin Kent (Senior, OF,P)
A dynamic and athletic player, Gavin Kent enters 2025 as one of the most exciting returners to watch. Known for his versatility, speed, and instinctual feel for the game, Kent is expected to contribute across multiple positions and become a catalyst in the Elks’ lineup.

Season Outlook

With strong returning arms, a fundamentally sound defense, and an offense that led nearly every GWOC team in base hits last season, the Elks are primed for a deeper run in 2025. The combination of seasoned veterans and potential stars like Gavin Kent gives the team the tools to challenge for a conference title.
Centerville opens its season this week with high expectations—and all signs point to an exciting spring on the diamond.
