The #2-ranked Centerville girls soccer team captured the OHSAA District Championship Thursday night with a gritty 1–0 victory over #4 Fairfield at Lakota East High School.
In a tense defensive battle, the game’s lone goal came midway through the second half when junior Alayna Hogendorn rose above the Fairfield defense to head home a corner kick at the 18:34 mark. The goal proved to be the difference as the Elks’ back line and goalkeeper held firm to preserve the shutout.
With the win, Centerville advances to the Regional round, where they’ll face #10 seed Milford on Tuesday, October 28th at Monroe High School. The Elks continue their postseason push with momentum and confidence as they chase a return to the state tournament.
