The Centerville Elk football team has an extra layer of protection as it pertains to protecting their players from head/brain injuries while they participate in football. Bill's Donut owner Lisa Elam partnered with Centerville Athletics back in 2017 to help provide the funds to purchase the Riddell Insite technology for all of our helmets grades 7-12. The Athletic Department has continued to provide this funding each year to make sure all helmets are equipped with the Insite Technology. This technology allows us to monitor the number of hits each of our players take along with the magnitude of those hits. Myself, our coaches and our trainers monitor this data to make sure our kids are not using their heads in a manner that is not safe. There is absolutely no way to prevent concussions but this added tool allows us to have knowledge that better protects our kids.

Our very CHS Grad Courtney Reagan will be at Centerville this week with CNBC doing a special on our Riddell Insite Helmets and the impact they have had within on our program on trying to keep our kids safe. There will be a special airing between 7pm and 8pm on Friday September 16th on the Shepard Smith Show on CNBC. The special will be broadcasted live from the Homecoming Varsity football game vs. Northmont. All NBC stations will get this special to air across the country if they so desire.

We are so thankful for Courtney Reagan and CNBC for sharing this great story and showing that we can all work together to make football as safe as possible. There is no way to guarantee 100% that football players will not be injured but I am so thankful that we are able to provide this extra level of protection for our kids!
