The varsity boys soccer team hosted rival Alter on Thursday night at Alumni Stadium. The Elks made two huge defensive mistakes and Alter Capitalized on both of those mistakes and were able to tie the Elks. The Elks made a mistake deep in their own half and at the 30 minute mark of the 1st half Alter took advantage and went up 1-0. At the 18:13 mark Colin Gottron found Eddie Kuper who tied the game 1-1. Then 6 minutes later Drew Gaydosh headed a Zach Landers throw-in into the net to put the Elks up 2-1 and that was the halftime score.

In the 2nd half the Elks had some great chances but could not find the net. With 24:07 left in the game the Elks committed a foul in the box and Alter banged home the penalty kick to make it 2-2 an d that was your final score. The Elks were just not on top of their game Thursday night and most of that credit has to go to Alter who played very hard and focused all night. The tie ended the Elks season at 14-1-1 overall, 7-0 GWOC Champions. Hopefully this will serve as a wakeup call as the Elks begin tourney play at home on Thursday October 20th at 7 pm vs. Springfield/Xenia winner. The Elks have a target on their back and must rise to challenge that target. A reminder that all tickets for the OHSAA postseason are only available online at ww.ohsaa.com/tickets

The JVA team beat Alter 8-0 on Thursday night to go 16-0 on the season!
