Senior night at Centerville Stadium could not have had more drama and grit then Friday night. The Elks hosted Wayne at Centerville Stadium and the 2 rivals did not disappoint.

The Warriors struck first with a 38 yard TD pass and the Elks trailed 0-7 with 8:35 left in the 1st quarter. Reggie Powers had a great KO return to the 48 yard line and then some hard running from senior Emable Wakilongo took the Elks to the 1 yard line and then senior Nic Bruder ran it in from there and the Elks tied the game 7-7 with 4:54 left in the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter senior Jackson Courville hit a 48 yard FG to put the Elks up 10-7. Seniors Nic Bruder and Emmanuel Deng both picked off Wayne passes in the 2nd quarter and returned the INT's to midfield but the Elks could not move the ball and we were still at 10-7 at the half.

The Elks forced Wayne to punt on their 1st possession of the 2nd half. The Elks drive 80 yards and with a 2 yard Braylon Newcomb to Bryce Cowgill TD pass the Elks led 17-7 with 5:22 left in the 3rd quarter. The Elks D get another stop and block a Wayne punt as the ball is downed at the Wayne 3 yard line the offense once again punched it in with a 3 yard Braylon Newcomb TD run and the Elks led 24-7 with 4:10 left in the 3rd and it appeared the Elks may coast.

The Warriors would have none of that as they answered quickly and the Elks lead was cut to 24-14 with 3:10 left in the 3rd quarter. Newcomb fumbled on the Elks next possession and Wayne had the ball at the Elks 15 yard line. A few plays later and just like that it was now only a 24-21 Elks lead heading into the 4th quarter.

With 11:35 left in the game Emable Wakilongo rushed 5 yards for the TD and the Elks lead 31-21. Wayne responds and at 8:43 they make it 31-28 Elks. With 6:45 left in the game the Elks have a punt blocked and Wayne runs it back for a TD and the Elks were down 31-35. On their next possession the Elks are forced to punt and Wayne took over at their own 23 yard line. Wayne was able to get 1 first down but then had to punt the ball back to the Elks. So with 2:40 left a 1 timeout the Elks must go 77 yards. This drive was incredible and with 8 seconds left Braylon Newcomb hit Nic Bruder for a TD pass and the Elks pulled out the dramatic win 38-35. The Elks finish 8-2 overall and 6-2 in the GWOC and 2nd in the league.

Playoff information will be shared soon, but we will be at home Friday!
