The girls basketball season tipped off Friday night versus Dayton Ponitz. The Elks looked strong at all levels.

The night started off with the 8th grade girls Black vs Gold game. Both Centerville teams started the game fast and ended with strong defense. In the end, it was the Gold squad taking the win by a final score of 30 to 24.

The night continued with the Lady Elks JV team taking the court. The JV ladies were played close at the beginning of the game, but as the game went on, the Elks defense, hustle, rebounding, and scoring was too much for the Ponitz Golden Panthers to handle. The JV Elks finished with a commanding win, 48 to 14.

Opening night continued with the Varsity Elks taking the court. From the opening tip-off, the Elks dominated every aspect of the game. In the first half, Kendal George had 16 points, Caroline McDowell had 13 points, and Emily Grim had 11 points as the Elks went into halftime with a 49 to 14 lead. In the second half, the Elks continued to play fundamental basketball and team defense. Pressure defense and fast-breaks quickly put the game out of reach. George ended the night as the leading scorer for the Elks with 18 points as the Elks start their season 1-0 by defeating Ponitz 84 to 29.

The Elks play next on the road versus Mount Notre Dame on November 22nd. Tip-off is at 7:30pm.
