The Varsity Girls basketball team traveled to Mount Notre Dame for a tough non-league matchup on Tuesday night. The game matched two teams that most likely will meet again at the District level of the OHSAA Tourney down the road in February. The game did not disappoint as both teams showed signs of early season rust but MND beat the Elks 56-54 in overtime.

The Elks kept the game close and fought back in the 4th quarter and had chances to win the game both in regulation and overtime. MND does not lose many home games so the Lady Elks should walk away knowing they had every opportunity to steal that win away from the Cougars.

Kendal George had 17 points, Caroline McDowell had 13 points and Anna Grim had 11 points to lead the Lady Elks who are now 1-1 on the young season.

The Freshmen lost to MND 29-38 and the JV team lost to MND 24-30.
