The boys basketball team traveled to Miamisburg on Tuesday night for their first GWOC game. The boys entered the game 0-1 on the season and 0-0 in the conference.

The Freshman Gold team started the night with a narrow win over Miamisburg, 37 to 31.

The JV basketball team kept the night going as they played their entire bench in a 70 to 45 victory over the Vikings.

The varsity game started with a great back and forth between Centerville and Miamisburg. Both teams were hustling, playing defense well, and flying around making plays. The Elks quickly caught fire, though, with some Gabe Cupps, Jonathan Powell, and Kyle Kenny three-pointers as they made the score 24 to 12 at the end of the 1st quarter.

The scoring continued in the second quarter. Miamisburg was able to get some points on the board, but not able to close the gap as the Elks led at halftime 42 to 30.

The second half proved to be similar to the first half. Miamisburg came out strong, but the Elks defense and scoring proved to be too much to handle. Between fast-breaks, steals, great passing, and some spectacular dunks by Powell, the Elks were able to open up a handsome lead and hold onto it. The Elks finished the game, beating the Vikings by a final score of 80 to 52 and moving to 1-1 on the season. Jonathan Powell led the team in scoring with 23 points and Gabe Cupps added 13 points.

The Elks boys basketball team is back in action on Friday, at Beavercreek. Freshman at 5:00pm, JV at 6:15pm, and Varsity at 7:30pm.
