The varsity boys basketball team traveled up Route 48 on Tuesday night to take on the Fairmont Firebirds. The first half saw the Firebirds run their methodical offense to decrease the number of possessions and they were able to keep it close as the Elks led 22-13 at the half.

The second half saw the Elks pick up the pace, force turnovers and make shots which put the Firebirds in a position they do not like to be in, playing from behind as the Elks led 39-24 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Elks continued to control the game in the 4th quarter and went on to win 58-38. Gabe Cupps led all scorers with 19 points and Dulguun Gankhuyag added 10 points for the Elks. The Varsity is now 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the GWOC. The Varsity will play at the Ironton Classic at Ironton High School here in Ohio on Thursday December 22nd at 6:30 pm against Huntington Prep, WV.
