The varsity girls basketball team traveled to the Charleston, SC area over the Holiday Break to play in the Carolina Classic Hosted by Summerville High School. The Elks were matched up in game #1 on Wednesday night and the Green Wave was currently 8-3 overall coming off of last season in which they reached the State Championship game in South Carolina. All 10 girls that were dressed all got significant playing time and all 10 made positive contributions in their roles. A total team effort by the Lady Elks.

The Lady Elks came to play and their defense absolutely set the tone for the entire game as the Lady Elks played with incredible energy and effort. Kendal George led the offensive effort for the Elks with 21 points. Anna and Emily Grim each had timely baskets for the Elks in the second half to maintain the lead throughout the entire game. Kaitlyn Palomino had an incredible floor game from the point guard position. The Elks led 27-23 at the half and 33-23 to start the fourth quarter. The girls played a great fourth quarter as things got a little hectic and physical and the Elks went on to win 43-35.

The win raises the Lady Elks to 7-4 overall and moves them into the Semi-Finals of the Carolina Classic today at 2:45 pm against the Dorman South, SC.
