On a night where the boys basketball team was honoring their Assist Club and their Hustle Program we through some other variables in there that could have made the night very difficult. Let's start with hosting the #10 team in the state, the Wayne Warriors. Add to that maybe the largest crowd in Centerville Basketball history as over 2,500 people were in the gym to watch the highly anticipated matchup. Also throw in there some fantastic halftime entertainment as the Pop Rocks were on hand. All of these things could have easily led to the Elks not being able to handle their business and play the way they usually play.

Well, let's just say the Elks were able to manage all of these distractions and put together another incredible performance as the team dominated the #10 team in the state and took control of the GWOC with an 85-56 win over Wayne.

The Elks led 17-7 after the 1st quarter and the game never really got close after that with the Elks leading 39-25 at the half. The second half saw the Elks continue to pull away and just play incredible team basketball. The team led 59-32 heading into the fourth quarter in which the Elks just dominated the Warriors in the 4th quarter putting up 26 points in the quarter to win 85-56.

The Elks were led by Gabe Cupps with 22 points, Jonathan Powell with 22 points, Collin O'Connor with 10 points and Kyle Kenney with 10 points. The win is the 9th in a row for the Elks who are now 9-1 overall and 6-0 in the GWOC.

The JV team beat Wayne 74-29 and the Freshmen Gold team beat Wayne 63-34. The teams are back in action on Tuesday January 10th at home as the Elks will host the Springfield Wildcats. 9th Black will play at 5 pm, JV at 6:15 pm and Varsity at 7:30 pm. Tickets are only available online at
