Wrestling Retains Champions Cup With Win Over Beavercreek

The varsity boys wrestling team traveled to Beavercreek on Thursday night for a dual match that is also for the Champions Cup, a traveling trophy that the winning team gets to keep. The Elks fought hard and came away with a 35-30 win over the Beavers to retain possession of the Cup!

The match started at 106 lbs. and Mitchell Winfield lost 4-3. At 113 lbs. Levi Howard got the win and the match was ties at 3-3. Next, at 120 lbs. Ethan Waller won as the Creek wrestler was disqualified for a flagrant foul and the Elks led 9-3. At 126 lbs. Brandon Ball took a loss and the Elks led 9-6. At 132 lbs. Nathan Stevens got a huge win and the Elks now led 14-6. At 138 lbs. Griffin Burkle won by a pin and the Elks were now up 20-6. At 142 lbs. Arslan Bekirov held on to win and put the Elks up 23-6. At 150 lbs. Gage Griffin lost by a pin and the Elks now led 23-12. At 157 lbs. Aydan George got the win and at 165 lbs. Evan Thompson got the win and the Elks were up 31-12. At 175 lbs. John Moyer lost by pin and the Elks were up 31-18. Gunnar Pool got a huge win at 190 lbs. to put the Elks up 35-18. Brandon Kim at 215 lbs. and Jackson Mires at 285 lbs. both lost by pins and that accounted for the final score of 35-30. Great win for the Elks! The JV team lost 28-37 to Creek.
