The varsity girls basketball team put together a total team effort as the Lady Elks knocked of league Champion Springboro at home on Wednesday night 47-44. The entire roster of varsity girls contributed in some way in this impressive win for the Lady Elks.

The Panthers face guarded leading scorer Kendal George and held her scoreless until the 4th quarter but the Lady Elks had an answer for that strategy as Anna & Emily Grim scored 9 combined points in the 1st quarter to keep the Elks tied at 11-11 with the Panthers. In the 2nd quarter Anna Grim scored 8 points and the Lady Elks played incredible and tenacious defense to lead the Panthers 21-19 at the half.

Anna Grim added 8 more points in the 3rd quarter to again keep the Lady Elks on top of Springboro 34-33 heading into the 4th quarter. Kendal George hit 2 big 3-pointers in the 4th quarter and all of the Lady Elks just made great defensive and hustle plays to pull out this great win. Alexia Peterson, Bella Keeton, Kaitlyn Palomino, Leona Ciarlariello, Amaya Gillem and Margo Lambert all made incredible contributions for this team win. It was awesome to watch!

Anna Grim had 21 points and Emily Grim had 12 points to lead the Lady Elks who are now 14-7 overall and 9-4 in the GWOC and tied for 3rd.

The 9th team lost to Springboro 26-35 and the JV team who earlier this year lost to Boro 31-60 showed their improvement and trust in the process by knocking off Springboro 35-28.

The Lady Elks are back in action at home on Saturday for their last regular season home game vs. Wayne. The 9th team will play Oakwood at 3:00 pm, JV will play Wayne at 4:15 pm and Varsity will play Wayne at 5:45 pm.
