The Varsity Boys Basketball team recently dropped their last regular season game against La Lumiere School, a highly nationally ranked prep school located in La Porte, Indiana. Despite the loss, the game provided the Elks with a great tune-up before they head into the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) tournament play.
The Elks took the court with a 30-second shot clock and kept the game highly competitive until the very end. They led 22-21 after the first quarter but trailed 37-40 at halftime. Despite the deficit, the Elks continued to battle and were only down 54-56 heading into the final quarter. However, they were unable to secure enough stops, and La Lumiere pulled away for a 69-61 victory.
Jonathan Powell had a standout performance for the Elks, scoring 25 points, and Collin O'Connor added 11 points to the team's efforts. Despite the loss, the Varsity Boys Basketball team finishes a fantastic regular season with a 19-3 record.
The Elks will now turn their attention to the OHSAA Sectional Tournament, where they will face Fairborn at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, February 15th, at Butler High School. With their impressive regular season record, the Elks are poised to make a strong showing in the post-season.
