Boys Basketball Handles Sidney, District Final Against Anderson Up Next

The Centerville High School varsity boys basketball team has been on fire lately, winning their last three games in the OHSAA Southwest District Semi-Final bracket by a wide margin, with a running clock in place. The Elks’ latest victory came against Sidney, with a final score of 76-25, proving that this team is coming together at the right time.

One of the key factors in the Elks’ success has been their impressive defensive intensity and effort. They have been able to stifle opposing teams’ offenses and force turnovers, allowing them to control the game from start to finish.

Senior Gabe Cupps has been leading the way for the Elks, continuing to play at a very high level. In the first quarter of the game against Sidney, Cupps scored an impressive 12 points, and by halftime, he had already racked up 16 points. Junior Jonathan Powell also contributed heavily in the first half, adding 14 points to help the Elks build a commanding 45-14 lead by halftime. In the end, Cupps and Powell each scored 21 points, leading the Elks to a resounding victory.

The win brings the Elks’ overall record to 22-3, and they will now move on to the District Championship on Saturday, March 4th at UD Arena. They will be facing Anderson, and the game time is yet to be determined. It’s sure to be an exciting matchup, and the Elks will undoubtedly bring their A-game to the court.
