The Varsity Girls Basketball team fought hard but fell short in the District Championship game on Saturday, losing to Kings 53-61. Despite the loss, the Lady Elks did what they have done all season, battling and clawing until the final buzzer.

The team's unselfish and unafraid approach to the game was a joy to watch throughout the season, with many players contributing to their success. However, the Lady Elks struggled at the foul line and could not get enough stops defensively to overcome the Knights.

Kings played an outstanding game and deserves credit for their victory. Despite this setback, the Lady Elks should be proud of their efforts and achievements this season. The team ended the season with an impressive 17-8 overall record, a testament to their hard work and dedication.

Emily Grim led the Lady Elks with 13 points, followed by Leona Ciarlariello with 11 points and Anna Grim with 10 points. These players and the rest of the team put in a great effort, but it was not enough to secure the win.

As the season comes to a close, the Lady Elks can hold their heads high, knowing that they gave their all on the court. It was a fantastic season for these young ladies, and they should be proud of their achievements.

A big thank you should also go out to the team's four graduating seniors, Alexia Peterson, Kendal George, Anna Grim, and Margo Lambert. These players have contributed a great deal to the team's success and will be missed next season.
