The Centerville High School Boys Wrestling team had a fantastic day at the OHSAA Sectional Wrestling Tournament on Saturday. The Elks put on a dominant performance, advancing 12 out of 14 wrestlers to the District Tournament next weekend at Trent Arena on Friday and Saturday. An additional Elk wrestler will be an alternate, which is still a fantastic achievement for the team.

The top 4 wrestlers in each weight class advanced, and the 5th place finisher serves as an alternate. The Elks' Mitch Winfield placed 4th at 106 lbs, Levi Howard placed 1st at 113 lbs, Ethan Waller placed 2nd at 120 lbs, Arcenio Aguilar placed 1st at 136 lbs, Nate Stevens placed 2nd at 132 lbs, Griffin Burkle placed 1st at 138 lbs, Arslan Bekirov placed 2nd at 144 lbs, and Gage Griffin was 5th at 150 lbs and will be an alternate.

Aydan George had a fantastic day, placing 1st at 157 lbs, Evan Thompson placed 3rd at 165 lbs, John Moyer placed 3rd at 175 lbs, Gunnar Pool placed 1st at 190 lbs, and Jackson Mires placed 3rd at 285 lbs.

The Elks' performance was outstanding, and they proved to be a force to be reckoned with. The wrestlers showed grit and determination, and their hard work paid off. The team's success is a testament to the dedication and effort put in by the coaches and the wrestlers.

As the team heads to the District Tournament next weekend, they can be confident in their abilities and their potential to succeed. The District Tournament will begin at 3 PM on Friday May 3rd at Trent Arena. For those that advance to Saturday wrestling will begin at 9 AM.
