The varsity boys wrestling team finished 8th at the OHSAA Southwest District Championship Meet this weekend. This impressive accomplishment is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of the wrestlers and their coaches.

The Elks qualified two wrestlers to the OHSAA State Championship Meet next weekend in Columbus at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of the Ohio State University. Aydan George finished 4th at 157 lbs., while Gunnar Pool finished 3rd at 190 lbs. These two exceptional wrestlers will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against some of the best wrestlers in the state.

Levi Howard also had a great performance at the district championship meet, finishing 5th at 113 lbs. Though he will not be wrestling at the state championship, he will be an alternate at 113 lbs. This is still an impressive accomplishment that should be recognized.

Griffin Burkle also deserves recognition for his performance at the meet, finishing 6th at 138 lbs. He may not have qualified for the state championship, but his dedication and hard work paid off with a solid finish at the district level.

Overall, the Elks wrestling team has much to be proud of this season. Their performance at the district championship meet is a reflection of the time and effort they have put into their training and preparation. Wrestling is a sport that demands physical and mental toughness, and the Elks have demonstrated these qualities throughout the season.

The upcoming state championship meet will be an opportunity for Aydan George and Gunnar Pool to showcase their skills on a statewide level. The Elks community is sure to rally behind them as they represent their school and compete for a state championship.
