On Sunday, the Centerville Varsity Girls Wrestling Team made history by participating in the OHSAA Regional Tournament and finishing 4th overall. This is a momentous occasion for the team, as it is the first time in the school's history that they have had a girls wrestling team. Their success at the tournament was a testament to their hard work and dedication, and it has set the standard for the future of the program.

Sophia Taylor and Spencer Page, two of the team's standout wrestlers, both qualified for the first-ever OHSAA Girls Wrestling State Championship Tournament, which will take place next weekend at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of the Ohio State University. Sophia finished 4th in the 140 lbs. weight class, while Spencer finished 4th in the 145 lbs. weight class. These two athletes have been instrumental in the team's success this season, and their performance at the regional tournament was no exception.

In addition to Sophia and Spencer's success, the Lady Elks had two other girls finish in 5th place, which makes each of them an alternate for the State Championship. Gianna Mauro finished 5th at 130 lbs., and Sarah Lehner finished 5th at 135 lbs. These two athletes may have missed out on a direct qualification, but their hard work and dedication throughout the season have paid off, and they have earned the title of alternates for the State Championship.

This accomplishment is not just a victory for the Lady Elks wrestling team, but it is also a significant moment for girls wrestling in the state of Ohio. Girls wrestling has been a growing sport in recent years, and the addition of the first-ever OHSAA Girls Wrestling State Championship Tournament is a huge step forward in providing girls with the opportunity to compete at the highest level.

The success of the Centerville Varsity Girls Wrestling Team this season has set a precedent for the future of the program. It has shown that with hard work, dedication, and a passion for the sport, anything is possible. As the program continues to grow and expand, there is no doubt that we will see even more success from these talented athletes.
