The Elks wrestlers gave it their all at the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) State Wrestling Tournament this past weekend. The Elks had four wrestlers qualify for the state meet, including Aydan George, Gunnar Pool, Spencer Page, and Sophia Taylor.

While all four wrestlers gave their best effort in the tournament, it was Sophia Taylor who made headlines and history by becoming the first-ever girl in Centerville wrestling history to place at the State Meet. Sophia competed in the 140-pound weight class and finished fourth to earn a place on the podium and a spot on The Wall at CHS.

Sophia's accomplishment is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and passion for wrestling. Wrestling is a physically demanding sport that requires strength, agility, and mental toughness, and Sophia has proven that she has all of these qualities in spades.

Sophia's success is also an inspiration to other girls who are interested in wrestling but may feel discouraged by the male-dominated sport. Her achievement proves that girls can excel in wrestling and that there is a place for them in the sport.

Congratulations to Centerville Wrestling, both boys and girls, on just a great season!
