The Centerville Girls Varsity Lacrosse team kicked off their season on a high note with a thrilling home victory over Carroll High School on Friday night. The Lady Elks had to fight back from a 5-6 deficit at the half, but thanks to some excellent coaching and a strong team effort, they were able to pull off a 12-9 win.

The game was a true test of the Lady Elks' resilience and determination especially with the weather the girls had to fight through. Despite being down at halftime, the team rallied together and made some critical adjustments to their game plan. Coach Ziegert and her staff's guidance proved invaluable in the second half as the Lady Elks were able to take control of the game.

The defense was a standout for the Lady Elks, led by the exceptional play of goalie Jorga Williams. Williams made an impressive 10 saves, keeping the Lady Elks in the game when they needed her most. Maggie Pickrel also played a vital role in defense, using her skill and athleticism to help the team transition the ball from defense to offense effectively.

The Lady Elks' offense was equally impressive, with Ava Routzahn, Cami Staudt, Arabella Rettig, and Molly Dickens all playing critical roles in securing the win. Routzahn led the way with four goals, while Staudt contributed three goals and three assists. Rettig also had an impressive three goals, and Dickens scored two crucial goals to help secure the victory.

The JV team lost to Carroll 2-6. Both teams are back in action on Monday March 20th at Springboro at Wade Field. The JV team will play at 5:30 pm and the Varsity will play at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available online at
