The Lady Elks Varsity softball team bounced back in a big way after a tough start to the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) play. The team had recently lost three league games, including being swept by Miamisburg and dropping their first game to Beavercreek. However, the team was able to turn their fortunes around in a doubleheader against Springfield on Saturday, winning both games in convincing fashion.

In the first game, Hayley Arnold pitched a stellar 6-0 shutout, limiting Springfield’s batters to just three hits. The Lady Elks’ offense also stepped up to support their pitcher with key hits.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Ally Middleton took the mound and threw another shutout, holding Springfield scoreless through seven innings. The Lady Elks’ offense once again provided plenty of support, with big hits from several players.

The Lady Elks’ victories in the doubleheader were a much-needed boost for the team, bringing their overall record to 5-3 and their conference record to 3-3. The team showed resilience in bouncing back from a tough week and proved that they have the talent and determination to compete with the best teams in the league.

In addition to the varsity team’s success, the JV softball team also had a strong showing against Springfield, winning their game 10-8. The entire Lady Elks softball program seems to be firing on all cylinders, with both the varsity and JV teams playing well and showing great promise for the future.

The Lady Elks Varsity softball team will be back in action on Monday as they host Beavercreek at 5 pm. The team will look to build on their recent success and continue their climb up the GWOC standings.
