The Centerville Girls and Boys Varsity Track & Field Teams both emerged victorious in the Warrior/Elk Dual meet at Wayne on Wednesday night. The Lady Elks won 138-59, while the boys won a closely contested meet 102.5-94.5. The meet was not only a display of athletic prowess, but also a demonstration of the power of teamwork and community support.

Leading the way for the Lady Elks was Victoria Kuol, who won the Shot Put, Discus, and Hammer events. Savanah Conner also had an impressive showing, winning the 100 and 300 Hurdles. Mia Fry took first place in the 1600 meters and finished second in the 800 meters. Fiji Keller won the 200 meters, while Sadie Disher won the 400 meters. Alex Smith claimed victory in the 800 meters, rounding out an outstanding performance from the Lady Elks.

On the boys' side, Cameron Gay was the standout performer, winning the Shot Put, Discus, and Hammer events. Sopuluchi Anosike won the 200 meters, the 110 High Hurdles, and finished second in the Long Jump and 100 meters. Eric Bucher took first place in the 3200 meters, and Mitchell Job claimed victory in the 1600 meters.

But this meet was about more than just winning and losing. The proceeds from the event and all of the fundraising efforts leading up to it will be donated to Relay for Life, an organization dedicated to fighting cancer. The event was a great example of how a rivalry can be turned into something more productive, as both teams came together to support a common cause.
