Boys Lacrosse Gets Huge Tourney Win

Varsity Boys Lacrosse team demonstrated their tenacity and skill as they traveled to Thomas Worthington on Friday night for an OHSAA Regional Tournament game, emerging victorious with a hard-fought 10-9 overtime win. It was a game filled with intense competition and heart-stopping moments that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

The Elks started the game strong, with a score by Eli Harless and two goals by JP Mercer, putting them ahead 3-1 after the first quarter. However, the second quarter proved to be a battle, as Thomas Worthington fought back to tie the game 3-3 at halftime.

The third quarter saw a back-and-forth battle between the two teams. Harless continued his impressive performance, netting two goals and completing a Hat Trick. Senior Connor Krause and Zach Allen also contributed with a goal each, resulting in a tied game at 7-7 heading into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was no different, with both teams giving their all in a thrilling display of lacrosse. A goal by Adam Bersaglini at the start of the quarter gave the Elks a narrow lead, but the Cardinals swiftly answered, leveling the score at 8-8 with six minutes remaining. With 4:30 left on the clock, Thomas Worthington managed to take a 9-8 lead. However, the Elks refused to be defeated and rallied late in the game to tie the score, forcing the game into overtime.

The tension reached its peak in overtime, as Eli Harless rose to the occasion once again, delivering a decisive goal that sealed the incredible 10-9 victory for the Elks. The team's unwavering determination and perseverance were on full display, leading them to secure their second tournament win of the season.

With this thrilling win, the Elks improved their season record to 11-8 and advanced to the Regional Semi-Final. Their next challenge awaits as they face Upper Arlington on Tuesday, May 23rd at 6:00 pm at Upper Arlington. The team is eager to continue their remarkable journey in the tournament and build upon their recent success.
