The teams delivered outstanding performances, with standout individuals and relay teams making their mark on the prestigious event.

Leading the way for the Centerville boys team was senior Cameron Gay, whose exceptional skills propelled him to a state championship in the Discus event. Gay unleashed a phenomenal throw of 179'7", securing the gold medal and etching his name in the annals of Centerville's track and field history. Additionally, Gay demonstrated his versatility by finishing an impressive 10th place in the shot put, showcasing his well-rounded abilities in throwing events.

The girls 4x200M Relay team electrified the crowd with their remarkable performances, breaking their own school record not once but twice during the meet. The quartet, composed of Sofija Keller, Lauren Jessup-Aiken, Sariah Turner, and Samaria Williams, showcased exceptional teamwork and speed, ultimately finishing in a commendable 4th place overall. Their outstanding achievement earned them a well-deserved plaque on the walls of Centerville High School, forever commemorating their success.

Several other Centerville athletes also excelled at the state championships, earning their own accolades and contributing to the overall success of the teams. Ann Lehmann soared to a 7th place finish in the pole vault to earn a plaque on the wall. Sopulchi Anisoke also demonstrated his athletic prowess, clearing impressive heights in the high jump and securing a commendable 6th place finish to get on the wall. In the distance events, Ethan Emmert displayed his endurance and determination in the grueling 1600M run, finishing in 16th place among fierce competition.

The Centerville boys team concluded the championships with an impressive 15th place finish, while the girls team secured a respectable 33rd place overall. The teams' performances showcased their commitment to excellence and their ability to compete at the highest level against formidable opponents.

On Sunday, the coaches association hosted a state hammer throwing competition and a huge congrats to Cameron Gay who finished 2nd in that competition, Mariah Francis who finished 7th and Victoria Kuol who finished 8th. Great job by our hammer throwers. The hammer is not yet a sanctioned OHSAA event, but it certainly provides our athletes with great opportunities.
