The spirit of competition was in full swing as the Centerville Elk Girls Cross Country team showcased their prowess at the Northmont Invitational held earlier today. The young athletes demonstrated their determination and hard work, securing a commendable 2nd place finish out of a field of 10 teams. The event proved to be a testament to their dedication and training as they raced their hearts out on the challenging course.

Under the clear skies of this invigorating Saturday morning, the Centerville Elk Girls Cross Country team put forth an inspiring performance that left spectators and rivals alike in awe. The team's collective effort and camaraderie shone through, resulting in a strong showing that promises great things for the upcoming season.

The team's success was further highlighted by the top-tier individual performances of its runners. Three exceptional athletes secured spots within the top ten finishers of the race, showcasing their talent and determination. Junior Mia Fry claimed an impressive 5th place finish, demonstrating her remarkable endurance and speed. Freshman athletes Ella Buckingham and Shayda Hart delivered outstanding debuts, securing 7th and 8th place, respectively. Their performances not only underscored their personal achievements but also contributed significantly to the team's overall success.

The Centerville Elk Girls Cross Country team is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with, as evidenced by the strong support from the rest of the runners. Senior Alex Smith and Junior Claire Drylie secured commendable finishes, landing in 19th and 22nd place, respectively. Their dedication and hard work added crucial points to the team's total score, emphasizing the significance of every member's contribution.

The Northmont Invitational was also a remarkable event for the newcomers who braved their first-ever 5K race. These young athletes faced the challenge head-on, displaying determination and courage as they conquered the course.
