The Centerville Girls Cross Country team showcased their talent and determination at the highly competitive Loveland XC Invitational this past Saturday, competing in both the varsity and JV races. With strong performances and outstanding teamwork, the girls left their mark on the event.

In the varsity race, Centerville's girls displayed their remarkable prowess, finishing an impressive 2nd out of 12 participating teams. What made this achievement even more remarkable was that 8 out of the 10 girls competing set season-best finishes, with 4 of them also achieving personal records in the challenging 5K race.

Leading the charge for the Varsity team were two standout runners: Freshman Ella Buckingham and Junior Mia Fry. Ella and Mia displayed incredible speed and endurance, finishing 5th and 6th overall, respectively. Their tenacity and determination not only secured vital points for the team but also served as an inspiration to their teammates.

The excellence didn't end there. The top 5 runners for Centerville all secured top 25 overall finishes. Junior Claire Drylie, Meredith Drylie, and Senior Alex Smith delivered impressive performances, securing the 18th, 19th, and 25th positions, respectively. Their consistency and dedication played a crucial role in the team's overall success.

In the JV race, Centerville continued to shine, securing a 2nd place finish out of 8 competing teams. The teamwork displayed by the JV runners was nothing short of exceptional. Their unity and synchronization on the course were a testament to their dedication to one another and the sport.

The JV team's scoring runners, Chloe Sorensen (SO), Lily Mundy (SO), Madison Leo (SO), Emily Perez (SR), and Kathryn Hall (JR), showcased their strength and resilience by placing 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th, respectively. Their remarkable achievements are a reflection of the hard work and commitment they've put into their training.

Coach Whyte commended the girls on their outstanding performance, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and dedication in achieving such impressive results. "It was amazing to see their teamwork tactics this meet. The girls pushed each other to new heights, and their hard work truly paid off. Great job, ladies," Coach Whyte stated proudly.
