The Girls Varsity Soccer team traveled to face their arch-rivals, Fairmont, on a Wednesday night. In a hard-fought battle, the Lady Elks emerged victorious with a 4-2 win, showcasing their determination and skill on the field.

Facing a highly motivated Fairmont squad, the Lady Elks knew they were in for a challenging match. Fairmont deployed a well-executed defensive strategy, including a perfectly executed offsides trap, which aimed to stifle Centerville's attacking prowess. The Firebirds managed to strike first, scoring a goal with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead.

However, the Lady Elks were not to be deterred. Just minutes after falling behind, Audriana Rhyner displayed her scoring prowess by finding the back of the net with about 9 minutes left in the half. The teams headed into halftime deadlocked at 1-1, setting the stage for an intense second half.

With 22:55 left in the game, Gaby Aydelott delivered a crucial goal that put the Lady Elks ahead 2-1. This score not only boosted the team's morale but also put them in a strong position to control the game.

Audriana Rhyner continued her impressive performance by scoring her second goal of the night with 19 minutes and 29 seconds left on the clock. With the Lady Elks now holding a commanding 3-1 lead, the team's confidence was soaring.

The Lady Elks weren't done yet. With just 2 minutes and 12 seconds remaining in the game, Samantha Touhey netted another goal, extending Centerville's lead to 4-1. This was a testament to the team's relentless pursuit of victory.

As time expired, Fairmont managed to pull one goal back, making the final score 4-2 in favor of the Lady Elks. It was a valiant effort by both teams, and the fans in attendance were treated to an exciting soccer spectacle.

With this hard-fought victory, the Centerville Girls Varsity Soccer team improved their season record to 8-3-1. They now share the top spot in the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) standings with Springboro, setting the stage for an exciting race to the finish.

The excitement doesn't stop here. The Junior Varsity A (JVA) team also had reason to celebrate, securing a 3-0 win against Fairmont.
