The varsity Girls Cross Country Team and the entire field were lead by Mia Fry (JR) on Saturday, the 2023 D I Southwest District Individual Champion running an 18:33! All of our girls had outstanding races with Meredith Drylie (JR) coming in 2nd for the team in a huge season best finish of 19:45, followed closely by Ella Buckingham (FR) who finished in a personal record time of 19:46! Shayda Hart (FR) finished next for CGXC in another personal record of 20:04. Caroline Haines finished closely behind Shayda running a 20:23. All of the top five runners were also individual Regional Qualifiers finishing in the top 28 and our 6 and 7 girls, Claire Drylie (20:44) and Chloe Sorensen (20:47), also finished with a season best and personal record time respectively! I think it is safe to say that Coach Whyte has our girls locked in and running to the best of their abilities at just the right time. The team will now move on to the OHSAA Regional Meet next saturday at Troy High School. The girls will race at 2 pm. Tickets are available online at www.ohsaa.org/tickets for $12 adults, $9 students. If you choose to pay cash at the gate the cost will be $15 for all ages 5 and up.
