Girls Varsity Basketball Knocks Off Springfield To Open Their Season

In a spectacular kickoff to the season, the Centerville Lady Elks played host to the Springfield Wildcats in a GWOC opener for both teams in girls' varsity basketball. The atmosphere was awesome as fans eagerly awaited the clash between these two teams.

The Centerville Lady Elks emerged victorious, securing a convincing 70-52 win over the Springfield Wildcats. The home team showcased their prowess on the court, delivering a performance that set the tone for an exciting season ahead.

Leading the charge for the Lady Elks was the talented Sr. Emily Grim, who displayed her scoring prowess with an impressive 14 points. Junior Caroline McDowell contributed 11 points, while sophomore Bella Keeton showcased her skills with 10 points. The dynamic trio led the team with a combination of experience and youthful energy.

One of the defining elements of Centerville's victory was their proficiency beyond the arc. The Lady Elks sank an impressive 10 three-pointers, showcasing their accuracy and ability to stretch the floor. This strategic play, coupled with stellar defense, allowed Centerville to build a substantial lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Centerville Gymnasium roared with excitement as the home crowd rallied behind their Lady Elks. The enthusiastic support provided a palpable energy boost for the team, creating an electric atmosphere that undoubtedly fueled their performance throughout the game.

With this triumphant victory, the Centerville Lady Elks mark their season opener with an impressive 1-0 record, both overall and in Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) play. The win not only secures a positive start to the season but also sets a high standard for future competitions. The JV team beat Springfield 25-23
