The Centerville Boys Varsity Basketball Team continues to showcase their dominance on the court, securing a perfect 3-0 start to the season with a commanding 75-43 victory over Nortmont on the road Friday night. Led by standout player Jonathan Powell's impressive 32-point performance, the Elks displayed both offensive prowess and staunch defense throughout the game.

The success of the Centerville Boys Varsity Basketball Team extends beyond individual performances, as the supporting cast demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill. Eli Greenberg contributed 13 points, adding a valuable offensive presence. Jamar Montgomery and Boboucarr Njie also showcased their scoring abilities with 12 and 10 points, respectively. The balanced scoring from multiple players reflects the team's depth and versatility, making them a formidable force on the court.

While the offensive firepower was undoubtedly impressive, the Elks' victory was equally attributed to their stalwart defense. From the opening tip-off to the final buzzer, Centerville displayed a relentless commitment to shutting down their opponents. The team's collective effort in denying Nortmont scoring opportunities and creating turnovers reflected a disciplined and well-coached defensive unit.

One of the key highlights of the game was the team's exceptional ball movement on the offensive end. The players exhibited a selfless and cohesive style of play, seamlessly sharing the basketball to create scoring opportunities. This unselfish approach not only contributed to the high-scoring performance but also showcased the team's chemistry and understanding of each other's strengths.

Head Coach Brook Cupps commended the team's performance, emphasizing the importance of both ends of the court. "Our success tonight is a testament to the hard work and dedication these players put into every practice. We executed our game plan effectively, both offensively and defensively. The players' commitment to playing together as a team was evident, and that's what we'll continue to build on moving forward."

The JV team beat Northmot 46-32 and the 9th Gold team beat Northmont 51-39. The varsity basketball team plays tonight as they will play Moravian Prep from North Carolina at 5 pm in the Griffin Elite Showcase in Erlanger, KY. Tickets can be purchased at the door with cash.
