Lady Elks Drop A Game To Springboro

Girls Varsity Basketball faced off against the formidable Springboro Panthers at home Saturday. The match unfolded with intense action, showcasing the determination and resilience of the Lady Elks despite facing an early setback.

The game kicked off with the Springboro Panthers establishing an early lead, taking control of the court and leaving the Lady Elks trailing 17-0 by the end of the first quarter. The Panthers displayed an impressive offensive strategy, making it a challenging start for Centerville.

Undeterred by the initial setback, the Lady Elks fought back in the second quarter, demonstrating their tenacity and skill on the court. Despite their efforts, they still trailed 29-10 at halftime. The Springboro Panthers maintained their lead, but Centerville showcased a strong defensive effort to limit the scoring gap.

As the game progressed, the Lady Elks continued to display their determination, playing the Springboro Panthers almost evenly after the challenging first quarter. The Centerville team exhibited improved coordination and execution, narrowing the scoring margin. The final score reflected the Lady Elks' resilience, with a 53-34 loss to the Panthers.

Emily Grim emerged as a standout player for the Lady Elks, contributing significantly to the team's performance with an impressive 16 points. Grim's leadership and scoring prowess showcased the depth of talent within the Centerville Girls Varsity Basketball team.

With this hard-fought game, the Lady Elks now hold a 4-2 overall record and maintain a 4-2 standing in the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC). Despite the loss, the team's resilience and determination bode well for their future performances.

In addition to the varsity game, the freshmen and JV teams also competed against their counterparts from Springboro. The freshmen team experienced a challenging match, losing 43-18, while the JV team fought hard but ultimately fell short with a score of 48-32.
