Girls Basketball Sweeps Columbus Bishop Hartley

The Girls Varsity Basketball team traveled to Columbus to face Bishop Hartley on Saturday, securing an emphatic 59-27 victory. From the opening tip-off to the final buzzer, the Lady Elks showcased their prowess on the court, leaving no doubt about their capabilities.

The first quarter set the tone for the game as the Lady Elks stormed ahead with a commanding 17-7 lead. Their strategic plays, tenacious defense, and effective teamwork were evident as they controlled the pace of the game. By halftime, the lead had extended to 34-18, firmly establishing Centerville's control over the match.

Undeterred, the Lady Elks continued their stellar performance in the second half, outscoring Bishop Hartley and heading into the fourth quarter with a commanding 51-27 lead. The team's consistency and determination were on full display throughout the game, leaving little room for the opposition to mount a comeback.

Leading the charge in scoring for the Lady Elks were Emily Grim with an impressive 15 points and Bella Keeton with a solid contribution of 9 points. Their individual performances, combined with the collective efforts of the entire team, propelled Centerville to a resounding victory.

With this win, the Girls Varsity Basketball team boasts an impressive overall record of 6-2 and a strong 5-2 standing in the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC). The team's success is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the exceptional coaching that guides them on their journey.

The Lady Elks weren't the only squads to taste victory on the trip to Columbus. The Junior Varsity (JV) team secured a 38-30 win, and the Freshmen team also emerged triumphant with a 34-25 victory.

Looking ahead, the Varsity and JV teams are set to participate in the Wishes Can Happen Tournament at Glen Oak High School in Canton, OH, on Thursday, December 28th. The Varsity team will face Elyria HS at 1:10 pm, followed by the JV team playing against Elyria HS at 2 pm. The tournament will continue on Friday, with the JV team taking on Olmstead Falls HS at 2:15 pm, followed by the Varsity matchup at 3:15 pm.
