The Centerville High School Boys Basketball team delivered an electrifying performance today at the Play-by-Play Classic showcase hosted at John Carroll University, showcasing true sportsmanship and remarkable talent against the formidable St. Edwards Eagles.

From the opening tip-off, both teams were in it to win it, setting the court on fire with their determination. The first quarter saw an intense battle, ending in a deadlocked 16-16 tie, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. The second quarter was no different, with the score deadlocked once again at 28-28 going into halftime, showcasing the teams' resilience and skill.

Coming back from the break, our Elks rallied together, pushing the pace and seizing the lead with a score of 42-40 at the end of the third quarter, igniting the crowd with excitement and anticipation.

The final quarter was a rollercoaster of lead changes and heart-stopping moments. In the closing seconds of the game, with nerves of steel, Baboucarr Njie sunk the game-winning shot, propelling the Elks to a thrilling 59-57 victory over the Eagles, sparking jubilation among players and supporters alike.

Key players demonstrated their prowess on the court, with Eli Greenberg leading the charge with an impressive 17 points, supported by Baboucarr Njie's impactful 12 points. Jonathan Powell and Jamar Montgomery also showcased their skills, each contributing 10 crucial points to secure the hard-fought victory.

Looking ahead, the Elks are gearing up for their next battle on Saturday at 8:00pm, where they will face off against St. Ignatius in what promises to be another thrilling showdown.
