CENTERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL TO INDUCT FOUR INTO ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
Induction Ceremonies to be held on Saturday, January 27th

The Centerville High School Athletic Office is pleased to announce that four new members will be inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, January 27th at 4:00 PM in the school’s Central Theatre. The induction ceremony is free and open to the public for anyone wishing to attend. The inductees will also be recognized at halftime of the varsity girls’ basketball game that evening against Mount Notre Dame at approximately 5:30PM in the main gymnasium. The members of the class of 2024 are Joshua Brooks (Swim & Dive), Jennie Sucher (Track/Cross Country), Ifeadi Odenigbo (Football/Track), and Shawn Roberts (Track/Basketball/Cross Country).

Joshua Brooks is a 2013 graduate of Centerville High School where he was a standout athlete for the Swim & Dive team. In the Greater Western Ohio Conference, Joshua was an individual champion 6 times and was the GWOC Central Division Swimmer of the Year twice in 2011 and 2012. Joshua’s success didn’t end at the conference-level. At the district championship meet, Joshua was the individual medley runner-up in 2011 and 2012 and was the individual medley champion in 2013. Adding to his accomplishments at the district meet, Joshua was also part of a 4xRelay championship team. Joshua didn’t slow down at the state meet. Five times he was an event finalist, four times was a runner-up, and two times was a state champion. Additionally, Joshua was a four-time All-American qualifier. During his time at Centerville, Joshua was voted team MVP twice, the Captain’s Choice award-winner as a freshman, a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the French National Honors Society. Joshua currently holds three records that still hold in Centerville swimming in the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, and 400 freestyle relay. After graduating from CHS, Joshua went on to swim at Purdue University. At Purdue he was a 4x CSCAA Scholar All-American, 3x Big Ten Scholar, and 3x Academic All Big Ten.

Jennie Sucher was a tremendous athlete at Centerville High School competing in both Track and Cross Country. Jennie was a 4-year letter-winner at CHS in both Track and Cross Country. In 1999, Jennie was a an All-American at the Nike Indoor Nationals for indoor track. In outdoor track, Jennie was all-Ohio four times. She placed at the state level in the 4x800m and the 3200m multiple times. Jennie was also part of a 4x800m team that set the all-divisions state record in 1999 on their way to a state championship. In cross country, Jennie was a 3-time state-qualifier and placed 18th in her senior year. On her way to state, Jennie was Runner of the Year and won both the WOL and district championships. After leaving Centerville, Jennie went on to run at North Carolina where she was a 4-year letter-winner in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. At North Carolina, she earned all-ACC honors 7 times and was academic all-ACC in all 12 seasons that she competed. Her senior year, she was voted a team captain for both the cross country team and the track team. When she graduated from North Carolina, Jennie was amongst the top 10 all-time in the 5k.

Ifeadi Odenigbo was another standout, multi-sport athlete at Centerville High School. A graduate of 2012, Ifeadi earned three varsity letters in football and 4 varsity letters in track. In football, Ifeadi was honored as an All-Ohio defensive lineman in 2011 and was invited to the Under Armor All-American game. In 2011, Ifeadi was also honored as an All-GWOC defensive lineman on a team that was undefeated in the conference and won the GWOC Championship. In indoor track, Ifeadi was a state-qualifier in multiple events such as the open 400m, 4.400m relay, and 60m hurdles. In outdoor track, Ifeadi was all-Ohio in 2011 in the 4x200m relay and in 2012 in the 4x400m relay. After high school, Ifeadi went on to play football at Northwestern University. As a sophomore, he tied the Big Ten record for sacks and became one of very few players to record three forced fumbles in a single game. At the end of his college career, Ifeadi was nominated to the first team All Big Ten team by the coaches and the second team All Big Ten team by the media. After college, Ifeadi went on to have a great career in the NFL which included different stints with teams like the Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the New York Jets.

Shawn Roberts was an exemplary multi-sport athlete at Centerville High School, excelling in cross country, basketball, and track. During his high school career, Shawn earned a total of 9 varsity letters across all three sports. In cross country, Shawn was a 4-time state qualifier earning all-Ohio honors in 2006, 2007, and 2008. In 2007, Shawn finished 6th at the state meet which is the highest in Centerville history. He still holds records for freshman and sophomores at Centerville, and his record as a junior wasn’t broken until just this year. For the cross country team, Shawn was a 3-time team MVP and 2-time GWOC Runner of the Year. In basketball, Shawn played for three years, earning his varsity letter as a junior in 2008. For the indoor track team, Shawn was an all-Ohio award-winner in 2008 and 2009 in the 800m, 1600m, and 4x800m relay. Shawn’s track success was not limited to the indoor season. In outdoor track, Shawn placed All-Ohio 4 times in the 4x800m relay and is the only one to accomplish this feat in Centerville history. Additionally, Shawn placed in many other events at the state level in 2007, 2008, and 2009. In 2007, 2008, and 2009 Shawn also earned All-American honors in the 2000m steeple chase. Also, Shawn still holds the Centerville record in the 1600m. After high school, Shawn pursued his academic and athletic aspirations at Georgia Tech. At Georgia Tech, Shawn was a 4-year letter-winner in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. Shawn was honored on the All-ACC team 12 times during his career at Georgia Tech. Additionally, he was an honorable mention All-American and Olympic Trials qualifier. Shawn currently holds the Georgia Tech record for the 4x800m relay and USA #1 relay.
