The Varsity Girls Basketball team faced a challenging Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) game at home on Wednesday night, ultimately falling to Beavercreek with a final score of 52-39.

The game kicked off with an exciting start as the Lady Elks came out hot, leading 16-15 after the first quarter of play. However, things took a turn in the second quarter when Centerville experienced a cold spell from the field. By halftime, Beavercreek had taken the lead with a score of 33-23, and despite their efforts, the Lady Elks could not make a full recovery in the second half.

Emily Grim emerged as a standout player for the Lady Elks, contributing significantly with 17 points. Bella Keeton and Caroline McDowell also played key roles, each adding 9 points to the team's total. Despite their individual efforts, the team struggled to overcome the deficit, resulting in a final score of 52-39.

With this game, the Varsity Girls Basketball team's overall record now stands at 9-6, and they hold a 6-4 record in the GWOC. The loss serves as a learning opportunity for the team, and they will no doubt regroup and work on strategies for future games.

The Junior Varsity (JV) and Freshmen teams also faced tough competition from Beavercreek. The JV team suffered a 43-31 defeat, while the Freshmen team lost with a score of 37-24. Despite the setbacks, these young athletes will use these experiences to grow and improve in their respective games.

Looking ahead, the teams are gearing up for their next challenge on Saturday, January 20th, as they travel to Saint Ursula Academy. The JV game is scheduled for 12:00 pm, followed by the Varsity game at 1:30 pm. Fans can purchase tickets online at
