Boys Varsity Basketball Knocks Off Springfield On The Road

Boys Varsity Basketball team hit the road on Saturday night, traveling to Springfield for a game against the Wildcats. The Elks emerged victorious with an impressive 81-60 win, showcasing their skill and teamwork on the court.

From the opening quarter, the game was fiercely competitive, with the Elks leading 14-11. The first half remained tight, with Centerville maintaining a narrow 32-29 lead at halftime. The Wildcats put up a strong fight, but the Elks' resilience and strategic play allowed them to maintain control.

As the second half unfolded, the Elks turned up the intensity on defense and displayed greater efficiency on offense. By the end of the third quarter, Centerville had extended their lead to a commanding 63-43. With a substantial advantage, they cruised to an 81-60 victory, securing another impressive win for the season.

Ethan Greenberg led the charge for the Elks, contributing 21 points to the team's success. Jonathan Powell added 20 points, Baboucarr Njie scored 15 points, and Eli Greenberg chipped in with 14 points. The balanced scoring showcased the team's depth and versatility on the court.

The victory against Springfield improved the Varsity team's overall record to 10-4, with an outstanding 7-1 record in the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC). The Elks' success wasn't limited to the Varsity team, as the 9th Black team secured a convincing 59-34 win, and the JV team triumphed over Springfield with a close 43-40 victory.

Looking ahead, the Centerville Boys Basketball teams are gearing up for their next challenge at Beavercreek on Tuesday, January 23rd. The 9th Black squad will tip off at 5 pm, followed by the JV team at 6:15 pm, and the Varsity team at 7:30 pm.
