The Lady Elks hosted Mount Notre Dame in a thrilling basketball showdown Saturday that was extra special as it was both Hustle Night and Middle School Basketball Night, bringing together fans of all ages to cheer on the home team.

The game started with a slow pace for the Lady Elks as their shots just wouldn't find the net, leaving them trailing 22-8 after the first quarter. However, the girls refused to back down, showing incredible determination and resilience. In the second quarter, they rallied back, narrowing the gap to 30-25 by halftime.

Despite their efforts, the Lady Elks faced a tough challenge in the third quarter. With just a minute remaining, they trailed by only six points. But a sudden burst from the Cougars put them at an 8-0 disadvantage, extending the lead to 48-34 going into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the Lady Elks fighting hard, but the lead remained with Mount Notre Dame as the final buzzer sounded, with a score of 55-41. Leading the charge for the Elks was Caroline McDowell, who contributed 9 points to the team's effort.

With this game behind them, the Lady Elks stand at 11-7 overall and 7-4 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC). While the outcome wasn't what they had hoped for, the team remains focused and determined to bounce back stronger in the games to come.

In addition to the varsity match, both the junior varsity (JV) and 9th grade teams also faced tough opponents, with the JV team falling 48-26 and the 9th grade team losing 55-25.

Looking ahead, the Lady Elks are gearing up to face Fairmont on Wednesday in another exciting matchup. The 9th grade game kicks off at 5:00 pm, followed by the JV game at 6:15 pm, and the varsity game at 7:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased online in advance at
