Boys/Girls Indoor Track & Field Teams Excels at FinishTiming Indoor State Team Invitational

The Boys and Girls Indoor Track & Field teams showcased their remarkable talent and determination at the FinishTiming Indoor State Team Invitational, emerging as top contenders in an exhilarating competition. The Elks' outstanding performances led them to remarkable victories, with the boys team clinching the championship title and the girls team securing a commendable runner-up position. Additionally, the combined score title was claimed by Centerville, solidifying their dominance on the track.

The boys team demonstrated exceptional skill and resilience throughout the event. Will Deel continued to make waves in the record books, setting a new 9th-grade record in the 200 meters. Simon Young Link also made his mark by breaking Yariel Soto's 9th-grade 400-meter record with an impressive time of 52.77 seconds. Soso Anosike showcased his speed with the fifth-fastest 200-meter time in school history. Eric Bucher's performance earned him the fifth position in the all-time records for the 3200 meters. Furthermore, the 4x400 relay team comprising Abate, Emmert, Chapman, and Young Link soared to the fourth position in the school's all-time rankings.

On the girls' side, Samaria Williams led the charge with her exceptional talent, resetting her own school records in both the 60 meters (7.90 seconds) and the 200 meters (25.33 seconds). Junior Ann Lehman secured victory in the pole vault event, while senior Desiree Bennett triumphed in the Triple Jump. Freshman Alyssa Grim displayed her prowess by winning the high jump and resetting both the school and freshman records with a clearance of 5 feet 3 inches. The girls' 4x400 relay team clocked the fourth-fastest time in school history, further adding to the team's achievements. Additionally, Ashlyn Rickert's impressive time of 61.14 seconds in the 400 meters earned her the fifth position in the school's all-time records.

The FinishTiming Indoor State Team Invitational proved to be a monumental day for the Centerville Elks, with both the boys and girls teams delivering outstanding performances across various events. Their collective achievements, including the championship title for the boys and the runner-up position for the girls, highlight the depth of talent and dedication within the Centerville High School Track & Field program. As they continue to train and compete, the future looks bright for these exceptional athletes, poised for even greater success in the seasons to come.
