Boys Varsity Basketball Triumphs Over Springfield Wildcats

The Boys Varsity basketball team showcased an outstanding performance on Monday night, securing a resounding victory against the Springfield Wildcats with a final score of 74-35. The game, held at the home, witnessed an impressive display of skill and teamwork from the Elks, leaving fans cheering in excitement.

Right from the start, the Elks dominated the game, establishing a commanding lead in the first quarter with a score of 21-3. Their momentum continued into the second quarter, where they extended their lead to 44-16 by halftime. The team's relentless focus and cohesive play demonstrated a level of performance reminiscent of Centerville's basketball tradition over the past 13 years.

Key players Baboucarr Njie, Eli Greenberg, Jonathan Powell, Ethan Greenberg, and Jamar Montgomery led the charge, contributing significant points to secure the victory. Njie led the Elks with an impressive 22 points, followed by Eli Greenberg with 13 points, Powell with 12 points, Ethan Greenberg with 11 points, and Montgomery with 10 points.

With this triumph, the Centerville Elks improve their overall record to 13-5, maintaining an impressive 10-2 record in the GWOC league. The Elks are up 2 games in the GWOC with 2 games to play.

In addition to the varsity team's success, the 9th Gold team also secured a victory against Springfield with a score of 62-35, highlighting the strength and depth of Centerville's basketball program. However, the JV team faced a tough challenge, falling short with a score of 45-38.

Looking ahead, the varsity team is set to face La Lumiere Academy in Indiana on Friday. The game promises to be an exciting matchup, with the Elks aiming to carry forward the momentum from their recent victory. Fans eager to support the team can catch the action at 7 pm Central Standard Time or 8 pm Eastern Standard Time. Admission is $5 cash at the door, with no online ticketing available.
