Boys Varsity Swim Team Shines at Sectional Meet

The Boys Varsity Swim Team made waves at the Sectional Swim Meet held at the Washington Township Recreation Center on Friday night, delivering an outstanding performance that has left their fans buzzing with excitement. The team showcased their talent and determination, securing numerous spots in the upcoming District Championship.

Here's a rundown of the incredible achievements by the Elk swimmers who have qualified for the District Championship:

In the Boys 200 Medley Relay, the team of Jack Howbert, Emory Pianki, Leo Gawelek, and Kyle Napier showed their teamwork and skill, finishing 13th with a time of 1:44.65.

William Guerin impressed in the Boys 200 Freestyle, claiming 8th place with a time of 1:45.41.

Matthew Fleisher demonstrated his versatility in the Boys 200 Individual Medley, clinching 4th place with a time of 1:56.77, while Jeffrey Frank secured 32nd place with a time of 2:08.98.

Caleb Purtee blazed through the Boys 50 Freestyle, finishing 7th with a time of 22.07, followed by Emory Pianki in 28th place with a time of 22.94.

Leo Gawelek showcased his skills in the Boys 100 Butterfly, finishing 17th with a time of 54.82.

Caleb Purtee continued his strong performance in the Boys 100 Freestyle, securing 10th place with a time of 48.58, while Nicholas Smith followed closely in 29th place with a time of 50.68.

William Guerin displayed endurance in the Boys 500 Freestyle, finishing 15th with a time of 4:54.59.

The Boys 200 Freestyle Relay team consisting of Matthew Fleisher, Nicholas Smith, Caleb Purtee, and William Guerin secured 5th place with a time of 1:29.93.

Matthew Fleisher showcased his backstroke prowess in the Boys 100 Backstroke, claiming 4th place with a time of 52.63.

In the Boys 100 Breaststroke, Emory Pianki led the Elk swimmers with a 9th place finish and a time of 1:00.71, followed by Ethan Towle in 19th place with a time of 1:03.46, Kyle Napier in 28th place with a time of 1:04.76, and Jeffrey Frank closely behind in 29th place with a time of 1:04.77.

The Boys 400 Freestyle Relay team composed of William Guerin, Nicholas Smith, Matthew Fleisher, and Caleb Purtee secured 10th place with a time of 3:19.13.

With this impressive showing, the Elk Boys Varsity Swim Team is now gearing up for the District Championship, scheduled for Saturday, February 17th, at Miami University at 10:45 AM.
