On Saturday, the Boys Varsity Wrestling team embarked on a journey to Miamisburg for the Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) Championship. This event brought together talented wrestlers from the GWOC to compete for glory on the mat. Despite fierce competition, the Centerville team showcased their skills and determination, earning accolades and recognition for their outstanding performance.

Thirteen Elk wrestlers placed as each athlete demonstrated remarkable resilience and skill in their respective weight classes. Mitch Winfield, Brock Weathers, Levi Howard, Ethan Waller, Shakhim Iskandar, Azim Kazimov, Traye Herrington, Evan Thompson, Alex George, Aydan George, John Moyer, and Ridvan Nazirov all displayed exceptional athleticism and technique throughout the tournament.

Arslan Bekirov emerged as a standout performer for the Centerville team, clinching the 1st place title in the 144 lbs. weight category. His dedication to training and his strategic approach to each match propelled him to victory, earning him well-deserved recognition.

The team finished in 2nd place behind Springboro, their collective effort and performance were commendable. Each wrestler contributed to the team's success, showcasing their commitment to excellence and sportsmanship.

As the GWOC Championship concluded, the focus now shifts to the upcoming Southwest District Athletic Board (SWDAB) Sectional Tournament. Held at Centerville High School on Saturday, February 24th, this event promises another exciting opportunity for the Centerville wrestlers to showcase their skills on home turf.
