The Boys Basketball team traveled to Butler High School on Thursday night to face off against the Piqua Indians in the first round of the SWDAB Sectional Tournament. Despite a slow start, the Elks quickly gained control of the game and never looked back.
From the opening tip-off, the Elks demonstrated their defensive strength and offensive prowess. By the end of the first quarter, they held a solid lead of 9-4. Building on their momentum, they continued to dominate throughout the first half, heading into halftime with an impressive lead of 33-11.
The second half saw the Elks' defense tighten even further, holding the Piqua Indians to a mere 5 points. Meanwhile, the Elks offense continued to shine, securing a decisive victory with a final score of 59-16.
Leading the charge for the Centerville team were standout players Jonathan Powell, who contributed 15 points, Baboucarr Njie with 11 points, and Eli Greenberg adding 9 points to the scoreboard.
Looking ahead, the Elks are gearing up for their next challenge as they prepare to face off against Xenia on February 29th at 6:00 PM at the Butler Activity Center in the next round of the tournament.
