Varsity Wrestlers Triumph at Sectional Tournament

The Varsity Wrestling team showed their strength and skill at the Sectional Tournament, with an impressive 10 wrestlers advancing to the upcoming District Championship, along with 1 alternate. The team also clinched victory in the team competition, highlighting their collective talent and determination on the mat.

Among the standout wrestlers advancing to the District Championship are Aydan George and John Moyer, who secured Sectional Titles in their respective weight classes. With impressive records of 38 wins and 4 losses for George and 35 wins and 9 losses for Moyer, these athletes showcased their dedication and skill on the wrestling mat.

Joining them in the journey to Districts are Mitch Winfield, Levi Howard, Ethan Waller, Shakhin Iskandar, Azim Kazimov, Arslan Bekirov, Traye Herrington, and Evan Thompson, all of whom displayed exceptional performances and determination in their matches. Additionally, Ridvan Nazirov earned the position of alternate, ready to step in if needed.

Ethan Waller (22-15) placed 3rd at 126 lbs.
Shakhin Iskandar (12-9) placed 2nd at 132 lbs.
Azim Kazimov (22-12) placed 2nd at 138 lbs.
Arslan Bekirov (33-11) placed 2nd at 144 lbs.
Traye Herrington (29-16) placed 2nd at 150 lbs.
Evan Thompson (32-9) placed 3rd at 157 lbs.
Aydan George (38-4) placed 1st at 165 lbs.
John Moyer (35-9) placed 1st at 190 lbs.
Ridvan Nazirov (25-19) placed 5th, Alternate

The success of these wrestlers is a testament to their hard work and commitment to the sport. Through hours of rigorous training and determination, they have honed their abilities and earned their place among the top wrestlers in the district.

As they prepare for the District Championship at Trent Arena in Kettering on Friday, May 1st, and Saturday, May 2nd, the Centerville Varsity Wrestling team remains focused and determined. Wrestling action begins on Friday at 4:00 PM and continues on Saturday starting at 10:00 AM. Tickets will be available online at, as well as at the gate.

The Centerville community is encouraged to come out and support these talented athletes as they strive for success at the District Championship. With their unwavering dedication and determination, the Centerville Varsity Wrestling team is ready to showcase their skills and make their school proud.
