The boys varsity basketball team traveled to Butler High School for round 2 of the SWDAB Sectional Basketball Tournament on Thursday night. Facing off against the Xenia Buccaneers, our boys wasted no time in asserting their dominance on the court. By the end of the first quarter, they had already soared to an impressive 32-2 lead, setting the tone for the rest of the game. With their unwavering determination and skill, the Elks secured a commanding 70-20 victory over our MVL competitor.

Leading the charge were Eli Greenberg, who racked up an impressive 16 points, and Jonathan Powell, who contributed 15 points, all in the first half! What was impressive on Thursday night was the teamwork and sportsmanship displayed by all our players throughout the game.

Even with a significant lead, our Elks continued to play with humility and class, scoring only 20 points in the second half under a running clock. It's moments like these that truly showcase the character of our team.

With this impressive win under our belts, the Elks' overall record now stands at 15-8. But the journey is far from over. Next up, we face a formidable opponent in the Fairmont Firebirds on Saturday at 4 pm at the Butler Activity Center.

Now, let's talk about the Firebirds. They've proven to be a tough matchup for us this season, with our only victory coming from a last-second desperation shot. The Elks now get a third shot at the Firebirds, who chose to come after the Elks in the tourney bracket. The Elks now have the opportunity to show their true potential as a team and to answer the bell against a formidable opponent.

Trust me when I say this is a game you won't want to miss. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.ohsaa.com/tickets or at the door with cash. And if you can't make it to the game in person, don't worry! You can catch all the action live streamed at www.nfhsnetwork.com for a small fee.

So mark your calendars, rally your friends, and get ready to cheer on our Centerville Elks as they continue their quest for victory in the District Semi-Final tournament game. Go Elks!
