The Boys Varsity Basketball team soared to victory, capturing their impressive 6th consecutive District Title with a thrilling 68-60 win over Middletown at the Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University on Sunday evening. In a game filled with excitement and skillful plays, the Elks displayed their dominance from start to finish, securing another remarkable achievement for their school and community.

Right from the opening tip-off, the Elks established their authority on the court, surging to an early lead and never looking back. With a commanding 16-6 advantage late in the 1st quarter, the team demonstrated their determination and focus. By the end of the quarter, the Elks held a solid 21-14 lead, setting the stage for an intense battle against the Middletown Middies.

As the game progressed, both teams fought fiercely for control, but it was the Elks who maintained their composure and resilience. Despite a strong comeback attempt by the Middies in the second quarter, the Elks finished the first half with a decisive 30-19 lead, thanks to a crucial 6-0 run before halftime.

The third quarter witnessed standout performances from Johnathan Powell, who lit up the scoreboard with four impressive three-pointers, energizing the Elk squad and extending their lead to as many as 15 points. Stellar contributions from Jamar Montgomery, Eli Greenberg, Ethan Greenberg, Baboucarr Njie, Bryce Cowgill, and Cohen Ellis ensured that the Elks remained in control throughout the game.

However, the Middletown Middies staged a valiant comeback in the fourth quarter, narrowing the gap to just four points with a barrage of three-pointers and defensive pressure. Yet, the Elks stood firm, with Eli Greenberg stepping up at the free-throw line to secure the victory and seal the District Title for Centerville.

Leading the charge for the Elks were Eli Greenberg with 17 points, Johnathan Powell with 16 points, Jamar Montgomery and Baboucarr Njie with 13 points each, and Ethan Greenberg with 9 points. With this win, the Elks improve to an impressive 17-8 overall record and advance to the Regional Semi-Finals.
