Boys & Girls Track Shine At Eastern Relays In Louisville, KY

The Boys and Girls track and field teams showcased their talent at the prestigious Eastern Relays in Louisville, Kentucky this past Friday night and Saturday. The event brought together top athletes from across the region, and the Elks did not disappoint, with several standout performances highlighting their weekend.

In the 100 meters event, Junior Samaria Williams demonstrated her speed and skill by finishing 9th, while Junior Lauren Jessup Aiken claimed the 20th spot. Their impressive times of 12.37 and 12.64, respectively, now rank as the 3rd and 6th fastest in CHS history, solidifying their place among the school's track and field legends.

The 1600 meters saw Junior Mia Fry and Junior Merrideth Drylie achieve personal bests, with Fry clocking in at 5:21.11 and Drylie close behind at 5:34.02. In the boys' division, Junior Jagger Noel delivered a stellar performance with a time of 4:32.14, securing 2nd place in his heat, while Senior Eric Bucher posted a commendable time of 4:36.29, placing 10th in his heat.

Senior Soso Anosike continued the Elks' success in the hurdle events, finishing strong with a time of 40.00 and a 2nd place finish in the 300 meters hurdles. Meanwhile, Junior Samaria Williams set a new school record in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line in an impressive 25.12 seconds. Not to be outdone, Junior Lauren Jessup Aiken also made her mark, running the 2nd fastest time in CHS history at 25.30 seconds.

Sophomore Sariah Turner showcased her versatility with a swift 27.06 seconds in the 200 meters, following her impressive 58.77 seconds in the 400 meters run. Ben Cannon displayed his prowess in the sprint events with personal bests of 22.87 seconds in the 200 meters and 51.43 seconds in the 400 meters run.

Junior Claire Drylie added to the Elks' achievements by setting a new school record in the 2,000 steeplechase event, finishing 4th with a time of 7:34.11. The weekend concluded on a high note with Junior Ann Lehman vaulting 12 feet to win the 21st Annual Criss & Rita Somerlot Field Event Classic Pole Vault event, showcasing the Elks' dominance across various track and field disciplines.

Overall, it was a remarkable weekend for the Centerville Boys and Girls track and field teams, highlighting their talent, dedication, and commitment to excellence.
