Centerville, OH — The Centerville High School boys varsity lacrosse team displayed an impressive performance last night, securing a decisive 23-7 victory over Gahanna-Lincoln in the first round of the OHSAA tournament.
The Elks were unstoppable on offense, with standout contributions from Allen, Mercer, and Harless, each netting 5 goals. Their remarkable efforts were complemented by strong play from R. Swanson, S. Swanson, Sengsy, Pool, Stephan, Alejandrino, and Harness, all of whom added to the team's scoring prowess.
From the opening faceoff, Centerville set the pace, showcasing their skill and determination. The team’s cohesive play and relentless drive kept Gahanna-Lincoln on their heels throughout the match. By halftime, the Elks had already established a commanding lead, 14 - 5, which they continued to build upon in the second half.
Head Coach Troy Stehlin praised the team’s performance, highlighting the importance of teamwork and strategic execution. “Our players have been working hard all season, and it’s great to see their efforts pay off on such a big stage,” said Coach Stehlin. “We’re looking forward to the next challenge.”
The Elks will advance to the next round of the OHSAA tournament, where they will face Pickerington Central on Thursday, May 23rd, at 7:00 pm. The community is encouraged to come out and support the team as they aim to continue their impressive tournament run.
