The Varsity Baseball team pulled off a huge upset on Tuesday night, beating the #1 seeded and #4 state-ranked Springboro Panthers 4-3 on their home field. This exciting win puts the Elks' season record at 16-12 and marks their sixth victory in a row.

The game didn’t start well for the Elks, as they found themselves down 2-0 after the first inning. Senior pitcher Drake Wells was relieved by junior Casey Lippincott, who came in with the bases loaded and managed to limit the Panthers to just 2 runs.

In the top of the second inning, the Elks fought back and tied the game at 2-2. However, the Panthers regained the lead in the bottom of the inning, making it 3-2. The Elks didn’t give up. In the top of the fourth inning, they scored 2 more runs to take a 4-3 lead. Junior Josh Miller then came in to relieve Casey Lippincott and kept the Panthers from scoring any more runs, helping the Elks secure the win.

Sophomore Colten Burleson and junior Jackson Clark led the Elks’ offense with 2 hits each. Many other Elk players also got hits and made important defensive plays, contributing to the team’s overall effort.

The Elks will now advance to play Elder in the SWDAB District Championship. The game will be at 5 pm on Thursday, May 23rd, at Lakota East High School. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ohsaa.org/tickets or with cash at the gate.

Come out and support the Elks as they continue their exciting playoff run!
