The Girls Varsity Gold Golf team claimed a big victory on Thursday, winning the Dayton SWDAB Sectional Tournament at WGC in Xenia. Competing against 24 teams, the Elks finished in 1st place and now look ahead to the SWDAB District Championship, which will be held next Tuesday, October 8th, at Pipestone Golf Course. The competition begins at 9 AM, and tickets can be purchased online at .
The day didn’t start smoothly for the team, with some early setbacks that caused a bit of worry. However, Coach Dalton stepped in and encouraged the girls to stay focused and take it one hole at a time. Thanks to this strategy and some serious determination, the team pulled off a huge win despite the tough conditions. The fairways were almost unrecognizable, and the course was extremely hard due to a lack of rain, making the victory even more impressive.
The team shot a combined score of 321 to bring home the win. Brigid Nickell led the Elks with a score of 76, tying for 2nd place overall individually. Other scorers for the Elks included Nithya Nunna (79), Ava Snow (83), Ava Bressler (83), and Bekah Hartley (95).
Meanwhile, the JV Golf Team tied Northmont 285-285 at Yankee Trace on Thursday.
Congratulations to the team, and good luck next week at Districts!
